PDF files do not display correctly on Chrome for Mac

The Google Chrome browser has a built in PDF viewer that does not work very well with Macs. When opening PDF documents, the screen may show only a small section of the document or bits and pieces or nothing but a white or gray screen.

The best fix for this issue is to update your Mac. Go to the apps store and install the latest OS updates.

The optional fix for this is to turn off the PDF viewer in Chrome:

  1. Open the Chrome browser and navigate to chrome://plugins (type this in the address bar).
  2. Find the "Chrome PDF Viewer" plugin and click the "disable" link under it.
  3. Restart the browser.
